FDA finds trove of food violations investigating McDonald’s ex-onion supplier

The FDA inspection of Taylor Farms, a former McDonald’s onion supplier, revealed numerous sanitation violations tied to last fall’s E. coli outbreak, which sickened 104 people across 14 states and caused one death.

Issues included unwashed hands, biofilm on equipment, and improper chemical handling.

Puddles of Listeria were also found at the facility, which produces ready-to-eat items. McDonald’s had already ceased sourcing from the facility.

Taylor Farms claims to have addressed the violations and maintains confidence in its food safety protocols.
