Florida insurers recently denied 37,000+ hurricane claims (and counting)

Over 37,000 home insurance claims have been denied in Florida following Hurricanes Helene and Milton, as reported by the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation.

Notably, 84.2% of Milton claims and 68.2% of Helene's remain unresolved from a total of 359,391 claims.

The storms, which caused substantial destruction and loss of life, have contributed to a challenging insurance landscape, with rates averaging $5,527 annually for a typical home, making Florida's costs some of the highest in the nation.
