Walmart buys TV maker Vizio for $2.3B

Walmart has completed its $2.3 billion acquisition of Vizio, aiming to enhance its advertising capabilities and compete in the connected TV market.

This strategic move follows months of regulatory review and allows Walmart to leverage Vizio's SmartCast technology and rich advertising data from over 19 million active accounts.

Vizio, known for its ad-supported streaming service, will remain a separate entity with CEO William Wang at the helm.

The acquisition is set to bolster Walmart Connect, its retail media platform, while raising privacy concerns among users.
