Here's how we protect your data and respect your privacy, a policy which was first put into effect on September 17, 2024 and was last updated on September 20, 2024.
If you are a Distill customer or subscriber, or just visiting our website, this policy applies to you.
If you are a registered ustomer or a visitor to our website we act as the "data controller" of personal data. This means we determine how and why your data are processed.
If you are only a visitor to our website, please know that we only collect data necessary to further Distill's services. Sometimes you provide us with data, sometimes data about you is collected automatically. All the data we collect is anonymized, except in the limited cases you may provide your contact information to us, such as when texting us, paying for our services, or contacting us for support. All data we collect is standard of a simple subscription service.

We don’t collect any "sensitive data" about you (e.g. racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious/philosophical beliefs, trade union membership, genetic data, biometric data, health data, data about your sexual life or orientation, etc).
Distill is a business-to-consumer service directed to and intended for use only by those who are 16 years of age or over. We do not target Distill at children, and we do not knowingly collect any personal data from any person under 16 years of age. If you know of someone under the age of 16 years of age who is a subscriber of Distill, please email us at hey@distilldaily.com so we may terminate their access to our services.
Data protection law means that we can only use your data for certain reasons and where we have a legal basis to do so. Out of transparency, here are the reasons for which we process your data:

Know, in the spirit of transparency, we have already done our best to answer these questions within this policy and only collect a bare minimum amount of web and mobile usage data required to deliver a standard subscription service to you. We will provide you with the information within one month of your request, unless doing so would adversely affect the rights and freedoms of other (e.g. another person’s confidentiality or intellectual property rights). We’ll tell you if we can’t meet your request for any reason.

You can do this by asking us to erase any personal data we hold about you, if it is no longer necessary for us to hold the data for purposes of your use of Distill.
We have physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect.

We will archive and stop actively using any personal identifiable information about you within 12 months from the last time you used Distill. We will delete your personal data from our archives no later than 6 years from the last time you used Distill.
In the event of an acquisition, merger, or sale of Distill, your personal data may be transferred to the new owners. We will ensure that any such transfer is handled securely and in compliance with existing privacy laws. The new entity will continue to respect and protect your data as we have. You will be notified of any significant changes to the Privacy Policy or your data rights following an acquisition.
Tech businesses like ours often use third parties to help them host their application, communicate with customers, power their emails etc. We partner with third parties who we believe are the best in their field at what they do.
When we do this, sometimes it is necessary for us to privately share your data with them in order to get these services to work well.
